Jewellery Care

Caring for Your Silver.

A little care keeps silver jewellery looking its best for years. Here is how to look after your pieces.

Everyday Care

Last on, first off

Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion and hairspray, and take it off before swimming, bathing, cleaning or exercise.

Wear it often

Regular wear helps keep silver bright. Pieces left in a drawer tend to tarnish faster.

Store it dry

Keep each piece in a soft pouch or lined box, away from damp and from other jewellery that could scratch it.

Cleaning

Sterling silver

Polish gently with a silver cloth. For heavier tarnish, use a mild silver cleaner, avoiding the stone, then rinse and dry thoroughly.

Argentium silver

Naturally resistant to tarnish. A wipe with a soft cloth is usually all it needs.

Stone-set pieces

Clean around stones with a soft, dry brush. Avoid dips, ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals, which can damage some stones and settings.
